M. Stephens Construction in the amount of $108,478.00. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of reconstructing approximately 41,800 square feet of asphalt concrete pavement with 1,500 tons of asphalt concrete, installing 4,640 square yards of engineering fabric, installing 2 wheelchair ramps, and other incidental and related work, all as shown on the plans and specifications for the above project. At the request of Interlake Inc. (an industry located in the reconstruction area), an alternate bid item for on-site sewer discharge was included in the bid proposal. When Interlake Inc. was informed of the bid results, they rejected the alternate bid price; therefore, the alternate bid item is not included as part of the contract award. The City has scheduled the Sacramento Street closure with Interlake Inc. to minimize the impact on its business. Interlake Inc. has agreed to close down its plant on Friday, August 11 through Monday, August 14, and Friday, August 18, from 2 p.m, until 6 a.m. Saturday, August 19, so the contractor can reconstruct the street during these time periods. This project was one of the pavement rehabilitation projects approved November 3, 1993 in the Street Capital Improvement Project Program.
