RESOLUTION NO. 95-96
A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL
EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE U. S. FISH
AND WILDLIFE SERVICE TO DEMOLISH THE WOODBRIDGE DAM
WHEREAS, there is currently a recommendation being advanced by the United States
Fish and Wildlife Service that calls for the demolition of the Woodbridge Dam; and
WHEREAS, the Woodbridge Dam is an integral part of the Woodbridge Irrigation District
which supplies water to approximately 4,500 acres planted with premium wine grapes; and
WHEREAS, this proposal, if implemented, would have a catastrophic economic impact on
the agriculture industry in this region; and
WHEREAS, the Woodbridge Dam forms Lodi Lake, a regional park enjoyed by residents
not only of Lodi, but of the surrounding counties; and
WHEREAS, there is no scientific data available to demonstrate that elimination of the
Woodbridge Dam would increase the anadromous fish population;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi hereby
vigorously opposes any action by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service that would be
detrimental in any way to the agricultural economy and the recreational benefits to this area.
