MEETING DATE: September 19, 2001 PREPARED BY: Electric Utility Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the bid for the purchase of 20,000 feet of #750kcmil 15kV XLPE concentric neutral primary underground conductor to the low bidder, Nexans Energy USA, Warrenton, VA, in the amount of $58,308.22. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On August 15, 2001, the City Council approved specifications and authorized advertisement for bids for this conductor. Six bids were received, and opened on September 5, 2001: Nexans Energy USA, Warrenton, VA $58,308.22 Pirelli Cables & Systems, Colusa, CA $60,845.00 Condumex, Inc. , Arlington, TX $66,005.00 Rome Cable Corporation, Rome, NY $68,238.85 Hendrix Wire & Cable, Milford, NH $70,348.00 Southwire Company, Carrollton, GA $93,740.00 This cable will be used for installation of a new feeder from Henning Substation to the Cochran Road area through Sunwest. Vallow, Electric Utility Director Prepared by Joel Harris, Purchasing Officer cc: Hans Hansen, Manager, Electric Utility Engineering and Operations APPROVED' n Flynn -- City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 2001-218 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF 20,000 FEET OF 750kcmil 15kV PRIMARY UNDERGROUND CONDUCTOR WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on September 5, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. for the purchase of 20,000 feet of 750kcmil 15kV XLPE primary underground conductor, described in the specifications, therefore approved by the City Council on August 15, 2001; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as shown as follows: Bidder/Location Bid Amount Nexans Energy USA, Warrenton, VA $58,308.22 Pirelli Cables & Systems, Colusa, CA $60,845.00 Condumex, Inc., Arlington, TX $66,005.00 Rome Cable Corporation, Rome, NY $68,238.85 Hendrix Wire & Cable, Milford, NH $70,348.00 Southwire Company, Carrollton, GA $93,740.00 WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for the purchase of 20,000 feet of 750kcmil 15kV XLPE primary underground conductor to the lowest bidder, Nexans Energy USA, of Warrenton, VA. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the bid for the purchase of 20,000 feet of 750kcmil 15kV primary underground conductor, be and the same is hereby awarded to Nexans Energy USA, of Warrenton, VA, the lowest bidder, in the amount of $58,308.22.
