Home My WebLink AboutAgenda Report - July 18, 2001 E-07AGENDA TITLE: Reject All Bids and Approve Revised Specifications and Authorize Re -Advertisement for Bids for Truck Hauling Services for Asphalt Concrete, Asphalt Concrete Grindings, and Spoils MEETING DATE: July 18, 2001 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council reject the only bid received and approve revised specifications and authorize re -advertisement for bids for truck hauling services for asphalt concrete, asphalt concrete grindings, and spoils. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council approved specifications for truck hauling services for asphalt concrete, asphalt concrete grindings, and spoils at the May 16, 2001 meeting. Due to numerous questions about the specifications, including the rate per hour for multiple trucks, the receipt of only one bid, and that the bid received was higher than the current average rate for trucking, staff recommends the bid be rejected. Staff requests permission to revise specifications and rebid the project. The revised specifications are on file in the Public Works Department. Frank will be unavailable this evening and Tony Alegre is out of town, Clearly this does not allow us sufficient time to prepare a rebuttal to the City's rejection. Additionally we do not know why the bid was rejected. We would appreciate it if this matter could be put over to the next council meeting so that we can properly appear and respond. RESOLUTION NO. 2001-178 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING BID FOR TRUCK HAULING SERVICES FOR ASPHALT CONCRETE, ASPHALT CONCRETE GRINDINGS, AND SPOILS ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council sealed bids were received and publicly opened on June 20, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. for the bid for truck hauling services for asphalt concrete, asphalt concrete grindings, and spoils, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on June 6, 2001; and WHEREAS, a sole bid was received from Frank C. Alegre Trucking, and a breakdown of that bid is shown on the attached Bidding Schedule marked Exhibit A. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the bid for truck hauling services for asphalt concrete, asphalt concrete grindings, and spoils is hereby awarded to the sole bidder, Frank C. Alegre Trucking, Inc., of Lodi, at the rate of $90.00 per hour per truck, as shown on Exhibit A attached.
