HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - June 20, 2001 E-17�4CITY OF LODI COUNCILCOMMUNICATION �/FOR AGENDA TITLE: Adopt resolution authorizing the City Manager to provide a Public Benefits Program Grant in the amount of $13,604.86 to fund the Wine & Roses Country Inn Demand-side Management Project MEETING DATE: June 20, 2001 PREPARED BY: Electric Utility Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving a Public Benefits Program grant in the amount of $13,604.86 to Wine & Roses Country Inn as part of their demand-side management (energy efficiency improvements) project. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Wine & Roses Country Inn, located at 2505 West Turner Road, recently completed a facility improvement and expansion project (Phase I, referred to as the Tower Building and the Barrel Room). The customer approached the City of Lodi Electric Utility in the fall of 2000 for expertise regarding energy efficient equipment upgrades and installation. As a result of these discussions, Wine & Roses Country Inn incorporated a number of demand-side management or energy conservation measures that meet or exceed the City of Lodi energy efficiency standards, including the installation of: • eleven (11) high efficiency heating & cooling units; • ten (10) digital programmable thermostats; • 149 T-8 fluorescent lamps & related electronic ballast; • four (4) photo cells for outdoor lighting applications; • four (4) motion sensors for office & restroom lighting applications; and, • thirty-two (32) low -watt halogen & Solatube lamps. In accordance with previous new construction projects, the Wine & Roses Country Inn demand-side management project is eligible for a 25 percent rebate of the total purchase price of the approved energy efficiency equipment and materials noted above (total equipment and materials cost: $54,419.44). The Public Benefits Program Grant in the amount of $13,904.86 reflects the 25 percent contribution to this effort. Dixon lynn - City RESOLUTION NO. 2001-154 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PROVIDE A PUBLIC BENEFITS PROGRAM GRANT — DEMAND-SIDE MANAGEMENT PROJECT TO WINE & ROSES COUNTRY INN WHEREAS, the State has mandated that beginning January 1, 1998, the City of Lodi is obligated to fund various programs through a Public Benefits Charge (PBC) based on a historical electric revenue requirement; and WHEREAS, the requirement amounts to approximately $1M per year that must be dedicated to qualifying programs such as energy efficiency. A further stipulation is that these efforts must be done on the customer's side of the meter in order to qualify; and WHEREAS, the City of Lodi's Public Benefits Program is comprised of four segments or customer groups: commercial/industrial, residential, community/non-profit, and municipal; and WHEREAS, Wine & Roses Country Inn recently completed a facility improvement and expansion project (Phase I, referred to as the Tower Building and the Barrel Room); and WHEREAS, the customer approached the City of Lodi Electric Utility in the fall of 2000 for expertise regarding energy efficient equipment upgrades and installation. BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to provide a Public Benefits Program Grant — demand-side management project to Wine & Roses Country Inn in the amount $13,604.86.
