HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - June 20, 2001 E-09CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION ��FOR AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Professional Services Agreement with Watry Design Group, of Redwood City, for Concept Design Services for the Civic Center Parking Structure ($75,500) and Execute Contract Change Orders, as Needed; and Appropriate Funds for the Conceptual Design Services MEETING DATE: June 20, 2001 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with Watry Design Group, of Redwood City, for the concept design of the new Civic Center Parking Structure, corner of Church and Elm Street, and execute contract change orders, as needed, for this project; and appropriate funds for the conceptual design services. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At its March 7, 2001, meeting, City Council authorized the City Manager to negotiate a professional services agreement with Watry Design Group for the concept design of the new Civic Center Parking Structure. Concept design services will consist of a collaborative design workshop with the members of the public, a complete Civic Center site survey by a civil engineering firm, preparing alternate site plans, parking level plans, exterior elevations, building cross sections, and an opinion of probable construction costs. It is anticipated that this phase of the project will take three months to complete, after which time staff will return to Council to present recommendations. The contract will be on a time -and -materials basis, not to exceed $75,500. The proposed Civic Center Parking Structure is anticipated to be a three- or four-story structure (ground level and two or three raised decks) to accommodate 350± vehicles and be located on the east side of the existing Public Safety and City Hall buildings. The new structure will provide parking for City staff at City Hall, the Public Safety Building and the new Police Building. In addition, the parking structure will be available for Downtown merchants and customers. Dixon Flynn -- ity Manager CConceptDesignAgmt 06/13!01 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-160 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH WATRY DESIGN GROUP, FOR CONCEPT DESIGN SERVICES FOR THE CIVIC CENTER PARKING STRUCTURE, FURTHER AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT CHANGE ORDERS AS NEEDED, AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THE CONCEPTUAL DESIGN SERVICES ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with Watry Design Group, for Concept Design Services for the Civic Center Parking Structure, in an amount not to exceed $75,500.00; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute Contract Change Orders as needed; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that funds be appropriated from the General Fund Capital for the Conceptual Design Services.
