HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - June 20, 2001 E-03AGENDA TITLE: Approve Plans and Specifications and Authorize Advertisement for Bids for
Mills Avenue, Vine Street, and Ham Lane Asphalt Concrete Resurfacing; and Adopt a
Resolution Approving the Installation of No Parking on the North Side of
Vine Street, from Lower Sacramento Road to 350 Feet East of
Lower Sacramento Road, to Accommodate the Installation of a Class II Bike Lane
MEETING DATE: June 20, 2001
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above
project and authorize advertising for bids; and adopt a resolution approving
the installation of no parking as referenced above.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of furnishing and placing approximately 5,700 tons
of asphalt concrete resurfacing, handicap ramp installation, and traffic
striping, legends and markings, all as shown on the plans and
specifications for the project. The limits of the resurfacing project are as
follows: 1) Mills Avenue between Lodi Avenue and Vine Street; 2) Vine Street between Mills Avenue and
Lower Sacramento Road; and 3) Ham Lane between Edgewood Drive and
Turner Road.
In conjunction with the resurfacing project, Class II Bike Lane striping will be installed over the entire project
and, additionally, on Mills Avenue between Turner Road and Lodi Avenue. To accommodate the bike lane
and left -tum lane at Vine Street and Lower Sacramento Road, we request approval for the installation of
350 feet of no parking on the north side of Vine Street. This is adjacent to the Lodi Memorial Hospital West
parking lot. We have notified the Hospital about the plan to install this no -parking zone.
Limited elements of the new traffic signal (detector loops and pull boxes) at Lodi Avenue and Mills Avenue
will be constructed. This is to avoid damages to the new pavement surface later this year when the traffic
signal is installed.
The plans and specifications for this project are on file in the Public Works Department.
FUNDING: The money for this project will be coming from Measure K funds and local Traffic Impact fees.
A request for appropriation of funds will be made at contract award.
