HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - December 20, 1995 (80)AGENDA TITLE: Acceptance of Improvements Under Water Well No. 1 Abandonment, 230 1/2 East Lodi Avenue Contract MEETING DATE: December 20, 1995 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council accept the improvements under the "Water Well No. 1 Abandonment, 230 1/2 East Lodi Avenue" contract, and direct the City Engineer to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The contract was awarded to Howk Systems of Modesto on April 5, 1995 in the amount of $8,900.00. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by the City Council. The contract completion date was June 12, 1995, and the actual completion date was June 12, 1995. The Contractor was slow in delivering to the City the completed County well abandonment permit and the billing for the County's inspection time, causing the delay in accepting the project. The final contract price was $8,410.00. The difference between the contract amount and the final contract price is mainly due to a change order which deleted some of the demolition work from the contract. The property owner adjacent to the well site who is purchasing this surplus City property asked that the City leave the fence and concrete slab in place.
