HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - October 18, 1995 (59)4` r OF 00n CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Waiver of Rental Fee for Use of the Lodi Grape Bowl by the Grape Bowl Classic MEETING DATE: October 18, 1995 PREPARED BY: Parks and Recreation Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council waive the rental fee and 5% gross gate fee for use of the Lodi Grape Bowl by the Grape Bowl Classic (formerly Lodi/Tokay Band Review) BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At the September 5, 1995 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, Randy Bauer, representing the Lodi Grape Bowl Classic Band Review Committee, approached the Commission with a request to waive or reduce the rental fee for use of the Grape Bowl on November 4, 1995 to conduct their annual band review (formerly the Lodi/Tokay Band Review.) The request was made due to low attendance and revenue from the 1994 event which caused financial hardship on the group. This group falls under the classification "A" on the attached fee schedule. In the past, this group has been charged a $1,500 rental fee, a $500 refundable cleaning/damage deposit, and a waiving of the 5% gross gate. At the October 3, 1995 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, Commission, by a vote of 2-1, recommended the waiving of the rental fee, waiving the 5% gross gate fee and requiring a refundable $500 cleaning/damage deposit. Insurance requirement The first time a group/organization, private, commercial, etc., uses our facility, the City's insurance will be required. The next year the organizers may attempt to use their insurance and be given 30 day prior to the event to provide the City of Lodi with an acceptable . insurance certificate with required language and limits pA said lessee will be required to again use City Insurance.
