CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Waiver of Rental Fee for Use of the Lodi Grape Bowl by the Grape Bowl Classic
MEETING DATE: October 18, 1995
PREPARED BY: Parks and Recreation Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council waive the rental fee and 5% gross gate fee for
use of the Lodi Grape Bowl by the Grape Bowl Classic (formerly
Lodi/Tokay Band Review)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At the September 5, 1995 Parks and Recreation Commission
meeting, Randy Bauer, representing the Lodi Grape Bowl Classic
Band Review Committee, approached the Commission with a
request to waive or reduce the rental fee for use of the Grape
Bowl on November 4, 1995 to conduct their annual band review (formerly the Lodi/Tokay Band
Review.) The request was made due to low attendance and revenue from the 1994 event which
caused financial hardship on the group.
This group falls under the classification "A" on the attached fee schedule. In the past, this group has
been charged a $1,500 rental fee, a $500 refundable cleaning/damage deposit, and a waiving of the
5% gross gate.
At the October 3, 1995 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, Commission, by a vote of 2-1,
recommended the waiving of the rental fee, waiving the 5% gross gate fee and requiring a refundable
$500 cleaning/damage deposit.
FUNDING: None.
