COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Approve Notification of Termination of Agricultural Lease at White Slough Water
Pollution Control Facility
MEETING DATE: May 17, 1995
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve notifying the current tenants of the
termination of the lease of agricultural land at White Slough Water
Pollution Control Facility because_ the land will be needed for other
municipal uses.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Under the terms of the present leases for the agricultural land at
White Slough, a lease may be terminated by the City if the
premises are needed for any use approved by the City Council.
The lease requires that the lessee be given six months written
notice prior to the expected date of termination.
The Council is asked to approve the notification of current tenants of termination so the California
Youth Soccer Association project can proceed. In order to give the present tenant the 6 -month notice
required under the terms of the lease, Council approval is needed at this time.
The land that will be used for the soccer complex is actually covered by two separate agricultural
leases. Both leases, however, are with the same parties. One of the leases, which covers 270 acres,
will be terminated in its entirely. The second lease, which covers 389 acres, will be modified to reflect a
reduction of the additional five acres.
In the event the soccer project is delayed, the City can enter into month-to-month extensions if current
tenants desire.
FUNDING: Not applicable.
