AGENDA TITLE: Request Permission to Solicit Bids for Three Automatic Defibrillators and
Obtain Contractual Training and Oversight to Meet San Joaquin County
Health Emergency Medical Systems Authority Requirements for
Emergency Medical Technicians.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the specifications and
authorize the Fire Chief and Purchasing Director to proceed
with advertising for bids for the purchase of three
Automatic Defibrillators for implementation of a EMT- 1-D
Defibrillator Program for the City of Lodi community. Estimated cost is $25,000.
Allow the Fire Chief to proceed with obtaining proposals for a certified instructor in utilization,
implementing County Protocol and certification of Lodi Fire Rescue personnel. The instructor
(Certified Paramedic) must meet rigid State of California and San Joaquin County policies to
deliver this type of training. Approximately 27 EMT -IA personnel. Training will require 24
hours of certified training.
