COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Acceptance of Improvements Under Civic Center Improvements (Phase 1),
City Hall Annex Renovation, Carnegie Basement Renovation,
Portable Trailers Contract
MEETING DATE: May 3, 1995

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council accept the improvements under the
"Civic Center Improvements (Phase 1), City Hall Annex Renovation,
Carnegie Basement Renovation, Portable Trailers" contract and direct
the City Engineer to file a Notice of Completion with the
County Recorder's office.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The contract was awarded to Diede Construction, Inc. of
Woodbridge on June 15, 1994, in the amount of $619,300.00. The
contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the
plans and specifications approved by the City Council.
The contract completion date was Wednesday, March 29, 1995, and the actual completion dated was
Wednesday, April 12, 1995. The final contract price was $687,371.60. The difference between the
contract amount and the final contract price is mainly due to fifty-two change orders totaling $68,071.60
(there were twenty-five change orders for the City Hall Annex at $46,731.80, twenty change orders for
the Carnegie Forum at $16,182.80, and seven change orders for the Portable Trailers at $5,157.00).
FUNDING: Budgeted Fund: Capital Outlay and Development Impact Mitigation Funds
Current Appropriation: $687,372.00
Total Project Estimate: $656,000.00
Bid Opening Date: May 26, 1994
