SIECLOCK CITY OF 14,Q;I CITY HALL, 221 WEST PINE STREET P.O. B0)00-67: r r 2 LODI, CALIFORNIA 95241-19110 (209)333.-6706`, FAX (209) 333-6842 April 13, 1995 Woodbridge Irrigation District Attn: Anders Christensen, Manager 18777 N. Lower Sacramento Road Woodbridge, CA 95258 SUBJECT: Street and Landscape Improvements on WID Right of Way Lodi Avenue to 900 Feet South of Lodi Avenue THOMAS A. PETERSON City Manager JENNIFER M. PERRIN City Clerk BOB McNATT City Attorney The City of Lodi is interested in improving the easterly side of the WID Canal fronting the Raley's Shopping Center complex. These improvements would be between the curb and gutter and the top of the Canal slope, as shown highlighted in yellow on the enclosed plan. These improvements would consist of sidewalk, lower retaining walls, landscaping, and possible street widening at the intersection of Lodi Avenue. Nothing would be finalled or constructed without your approval. The landscaping would consist of a sprinkler system together with colorful ground cover and shrubs. We would also be considering a curbing at the top of the slope to ensure that any spraying of your Canal and roadway surface does not migrate into the landscaped area. It is understood that the owners of this complex have a responsibility to maintain this area. If we can receive conceptual approval from your Board, we will negotiate the maintenance costs with the owners of the complex. The City of Lodi would then take over the maintenance of this easterly bank, from the top of the slope to the top of the curb. With conceptual approval, we would also include the design of these improvements in our Lower Sacramento Road improvement project between Kettleman Lane and Tumer Road. It is understood that we'll have to also work out with WID the appropriate construction, roadway and/or landscape easements. It is felt that improving this easterly slope of your facility will be an overall betterment for the area and the community. We are hoping you can work with us in this matter. I would be happy to attend your next Board meeting in order to answer any questions regarding this concept /7 A-NCIA/1—L Jck Ronsko P ibliceWorks Director Enclosure cc: City Manager } City Council } - no enclosure City Engineer } WID9501.Doc
