AGENDA TITLE: Specifications and Advertisement for Bids for Communica-
tions Radios for the Police Department
MEETING DATE: April 5, 1995

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the specifications and
authorize the advertisement for bids for six Motorola
communications radios and related equipment for use by
the Police Department's Operations Units.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Four "Secure -Channel" Motorola radios are needed and
have been budgeted for the current fiscal year. Two are to
be assigned to the Bike Patrol, and two will be assigned to
SWAT team members. In addition, one Motorola Spectra
"Secure -Net" radio has been budgeted for installation in the SWAT van, and one standard Motorola
Spectra radio is planned for installation in the vehicle assigned to gang patrol.
FUNDING: Funds have been budgeted, and are available in the
Department's 10.0-103.02-517 (Police Operations)
Account. Estimated cost approximately $13,000.
