Howard, Fire Chief RECOMMENDED ACTION: That Mayor Mann present a proclamation proclaiming the month of April "Earthquake Preparedness Month" in the City of Lodi. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Mayor has been requested to present a proclamation proclaiming the month of April "Earthquake Preparedness Month". The week of April 1-8, 1995, is "Government and Emergency Services Preparedness Week" and the Statewide "Duck, Cover and Hold" Drill to be held on Tuesday, April 4, 1995, at 10:30 a.m.. The Lodi Fire Department will be coordinating activities for the other weeks. Fire Chief Hank Howard will be present to accept the proclamation. FUNDING: None required. V &I A - f f6l� Hank A. This year's campaign — THE NEXT EARTHQUAKE. READY? OR NOT. — stresses the importance of being ready before, during and after the next earthquake. Please note some of the upcoming highlights from this year's Earthquake Preparedness Month Campaign: The Statewide "Duck, Cover and Hold" Drill to be held on Tuesday, April 4, at 10:30 am. Earthquake Preparedeness Month Week One - April 1-8 Government and Emergency Services Preparedness Week Week Two - April 9-15 Business and Industry Preparedness Week Week Three - April 16-22 School Preparedness Week Week Four - April 23-30 Family and Community Preparedness Week We urge you to participate further by scheduling additional preparedness events throughout the month. Please complete and return the attached Calendar of Events form promptly, providing details about your local events.
