HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - April 19, 1995 (56)OF CIW OF LODE COUNCIL COMMUNICATION cgtiF N��P AGENDA TITLE: Purchase of Desktop Computers for the Fire Department ($19,239.84) MEETING DATE: April 19, 1995 SUBMITTED BY: Fire Chief RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve revised specifications for eight desktop computers for the Fire Department, and adopt the attached resolution awarding bid for the purchase of said computers to the low bidder, AmeriData of Sacramento, in the amount of $19,239.84. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On March 15, 1995, the City Council approved specifica- tions and authorized advertisement for bids for eight Hewlett Packard desktop computers for the Fire Depart- ment's five new workstations, and to replace three older Apple computers currently used by the Train- ing Officer and the two outlying stations. Bids were mailed on March 16, 1995. On March 21, Hewlett Packard announced restricted availability on the systems previously approved by Council. At that point, staff modified the specifications slightly to designate a system that was available from Hewlett Packard, changing the processor speed from 66Mhz to 100Mhz, but leaving all other specifications the same. PETERSON City Manager cc -1 RESOLUTION NO. 95-49 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL APPROVING REVISED SPECIFICATIONS AND AWARDING THE BID FOR PURCHASE OF EIGHT DESKTOP COMPUTERS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council sealed bids were received and publicly opened on April 4, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. for the bid for the purchase eight desktop computers for the Fire Department, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on March 15, 1995; and WHEREAS, bids were mailed on March 16, 1995 and on March 21, 1995, Hewlett Packard announced restricted availability on the systems previously approved by the City Council; and WHEREAS, staff modified the specifications slightly to designate a system that was available from Hewlett Packard, changing the processor speed from 66Mhz to 100Mhz, leaving all other specifications the same; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: Biddle Location Amount AmeriData Sacramento $19,239.84 NovaQuest InfoSystems Torrance $19,764.11 Vanstar Santa Fe Springs $19,831.77 Golden State Business Systems Sacramento $19,851.86 Avnet Computers Tempe, AZ $19,893.49 WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends approval of the revised specifications and award of the bid for the purchase of eight desktop computers for the Fire Department to the lowest bidder, AmeriData of Sacramento, CA; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the revised specifications are hereby approved and the award of the bid for the purchase of eight desktop computers for the Fire Department be and the same is hereby awarded to AmeriData of Sacramento, CA, the lowest bidder, in the amount of $19,239.84.
