CITY OF LODI
COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Plans and Specifications and Advertisement for Bids for Lodi Lake Nature Trail
MEETING DATE: March 15, 1995
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above
project and authorize advertising for bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Last year, the Parks and Recreation Department obtained a
$20,000 grant from the State Department of Parks and Recreation
Habitat Conservation Fund Program to help pay for the installation
of a dust -free water-resistant trail in the Wilderness Area of
Lodi Lake. This new trail will create a looped path through the Wilderness Area and eliminate the dead
end in the existing asphalt bike trail. It will also expand the handicap route through the
Wilderness Area, eliminate unrestricted traffic in sensitive environmental areas, remove various
haphazard trails and reroute other trails. The project consists of constructing approximately 3,250 lineal
feet of 8 -foot wide decomposed granite path and other incidental and related work, all as shown on the
plans and specifications for the project.
The grading and subgrade compacting of this trail will be done by the Street Division and this contract
will furnish, spread and compact the path material. The total project estimate is $50,000. Additional
money has been appropriated in this year's Capital Outlay Reserve Fund to cover the balance of the
project.
