BACKGROUND INFORMATION: January 1, 1995, three outstanding volunteers are leaving the Boosters of Boys and Girls Sports Organization (B.O.B.S.) after a combined 30+ years of service. It is remembered that the B.O.B.S. organization annually provides sports opportunities and experiences to 5,000+ children in the Lodi and surrounding area which also produces 150,000+ participation units. The organization's current budget is $250,000. ($7,000,000+ collected in financial support over the organization's 35 years of existence.) Ed Wall - Served the B.O.B.S. for 15 years. Has filled every Executive Board Committee seat and all offices of the board; has headed up many of the sports committees, especially Babe Ruth baseball; has served as chairman of the B.O.B.S. efforts to support Hutchins Street Square with, their T.O.B.S. Bar-B-Que" booth. An outstanding contribution to youth sports and its commitments. David Akin - Served the B.O.B.S. for 10 years. Like Mr. Wall, served on various committees as well as directing same; served as president in 1993, one of the most difficult years with City cuts pending and the formation of the Parks and Recreation Open Space and Master Plan; formed the "B.O.B.S. Speakers Club" to represent the organization officially and consistently. Larry Simpfenderfer - "Mr. Fundraiser", Larry's name is synonymous with raising thousands of dollars for the organization at a time when financially, things did not look good for the B.O.B.S. due to the general economy of the area. Mr. Simpfenderfer took the bull by the horns with great enthusiasm and generated much needed dollars to keep B.O.B.S. costs down and youth registration fees to a minimum. He also is credited with forming the "Art Nelson Softball Program" for teenage boys to take care of those teenagers who did not make the 16-18 Babe Ruth program. His attitude of getting kids involved at each persons level of ability is what made him and the B.O.B.S. organization so valuable to Lodi and its youth. Served the B.O.B.S. for 8 years of committed service. APPROVED: 1-9 s THOMAS A.
