Stephen J. Mann, Mayor
City of Lodi
221 W. Pine St.
Lodi, California 95240
Dear Mayor Mann,
I have enjoyed serving on the Lodi Senior Citizens Commission for the past three years.
Although we have not accomplished much, we have been a proponent of seniors' rights and,
whenever possible, we have provided valuable information and guidance to those citizens who
needed support or advice.
Now comes my most difficult task. I offer my resignation as a member of the Senior
Citizens Commission. I have accepted a position with my company in Portland, Oregon. This
opportunity will afford my family and myself a new adventure in life, and we are looking
forward to this new experience.
When I was discharged from the Navy in 1969, I chose Lodi as my home. Having
lived the majority of my adult life in Lodi, I have grown fond of the community and people
that make it a special place. As a businessman during the past twenty-four years, I have
appreciated the opportunity to serve the citizens and reap the rewards of success. Although
there were trying times, there have been many special moments that will never be forgotten.
I have worked through many City Council's and have learned the necessity of
cooperation between government and business. I will not forget this lesson and will take it
with me wherever I go. I have had the privilege to work with two great City Managers.
Henry Glaves and Tom Peterson have been an inspiration to me. Lodi is fortunate to have
these two men manage the City during the past twenty -years.
Thank you for letting me be part of the growth of the community and all the wonderful
things that have made this a great place to raise my family.
Respectfully,
Z --
