AGENDA TITLE: Report of Activities of Code Action Team
MEETING DATE: January 4, 1995
PREPARED BY: Kirk J. Evans, Administrative Assistant to the City Manager
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That City Council hear the report by Eastside
Improvement Committee Chairperson Virginia Snyder on
Activities of Code Action Team.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Under the direction of the City Manager, various staff
members and the Chair of the Eastside Improvement
Committee now comprise the "Code Action Team".
The mission of the Code Action Team is to direct the resources of City staff and
the community toward eliminating or repairing the most severe cases of property
neglect in the City of Lodi.
The major goal of the Code Action Team is to complete and maintain a list of ten
"problem" properties in the City of Lodi and strive to eliminate these properties
from the list. The Team wants to help create a vision of healthy neighborhoods
with more affordable housing, reduced crime and an environment inviting to new
residents and businesses.
The Team consists of the following members:
1. Leland Schmiedt - Community Improvement Officer
2. Kirk Evans - Assistant to the City Manager
3. Bob Gorbet - Fire Marshall
4. John Luebberke - Deputy City Attorney
5. Jim Siemers - Building Inspector II
6. Chet Somera - Police Seargent
7. Virginia Snyder - Eastside Improvement Committee Chair
The Team meets on a regular basis, usually every two weeks on Tuesdays. Three
meetings of the Team have already been held. Members have prepared a list of
ten properties to address. They are generally located in the area of East
Locust, Elm and Pine Streets.
