HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - May 16, 2001 E-19AGENDA TITLE: Adopt resolution authorizing the City Manager to provide funding in the amount of $10,750 to
fund the Public Benefits Program Grant — Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EUD)
MEETING DATE: May 16, 2001
PREPARED BY: Electric Utility Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to
provide funding in the amount of $10,750 to fund the Public Benefits
Program Grant — Electric Vehicle Charging Station, located at the City of
Lodi Municipal Service Center (adjacent to the Electric Utility
administration offices).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Earlier this year, the City Council approved funding for the construction of
the Lodi Solar Port Project. This funding was allocated solely for the steel -
frame, solar panels and associated wiring required to construct the solar
port (six covered parking stalls) at the Municipal Service Center.
The request of $10,750 is necessary to purchase and install equipment utilized to charge up to six (6) electric vehicles,
which will be parked at/under the solar port. The specific equipment to be purchased includes: six (6) pedestals and
related wiring materials, and four (4) electric vehicle chargers. The required equipment will allow for the electric
vehicles to be charged from two sources- electricity delivered directly from the adjacent Henning Substation, or from
the solar panels mounted atop the solar port.
The City of Lodi Electric Utility respectfully recommends approval of this funding request as a qualifying component of
the City of Lodi Public Benefits Program, under the category of research, development and demonstration services.
