HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - June 6, 2001 E-17CITY OF LODI 'COUNCIL COMMUNICATION ��FCIR� J AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Professional Services Agreement with Blymyer Engineering, Inc., of Alameda, for the Final Design and Engineering and Construction Management for the Municipal Service Center (MSC) Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Station ($24,500); and Appropriate Funds for the Project MEETING DATE: June 6, 2001 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Blymyer Engineering, Inc., of Alameda, for the final design and engineering and construction management for the Municipal Service Center (MSC) Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station; and appropriate funds for the project. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council previously authorized the City Manager to negotiate a professional services agreement with All Fuels, Inc., for preliminary engineering and design for the MSC CNG station. The final design and engineering will consist of mechanical drawings for conventional fuel system/fueling island modifications; mechanical drawings for shop up -grade; electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, civil drawings and calculations for CNG Fueling system; and modification to existing mechanical and electrical drawings. The MSC CNG station will provide fuel for all CNG transit buses, all heavy-duty CNG trucks and all CNG light- to medium -duty cars and trucks. It is estimated that the City of Lodi will realize significant fuel savings for these vehicles. Current estimates are for a fuel savings of 50%. The fueling island will see upgrades for all fuels as well. A new card reader will reduce labor time that is currently used to manually input all fuel transactions. New electronic fueling dispensers will be installed for gasoline and diesel as well. Dixon Flinn -- City,01iAanager MesignAgmt 05131/01 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-132 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH BLYMYER ENGINEERING, INC., FOR THE FINAL DESIGN, ENGINEERING, AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT FOR THE MUNICIPAL SERVICE CENTER (MSC) COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS (CNG) STATION, AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THE PROJECT NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement with Blymyer Engineering, Inc., of Alameda, California, for the Final Design, Engineering, and Construction Management for the Municipal Service Center (MSC) Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Station, in an amount not to exceed $24,500.00; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that $24,500.00 be appropriated from the Federal Transit Administration fund for this project.
