Agreement with Blymyer Engineering, Inc., of Alameda, for the Final Design and Engineering
and Construction Management for the Municipal Service Center (MSC) Compressed Natural
Gas (CNG) Station ($24,500); and Appropriate Funds for the Project
MEETING DATE: June 6, 2001
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with
Blymyer Engineering, Inc., of Alameda, for the final design and engineering
and construction management for the Municipal Service Center (MSC)
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station; and appropriate funds for the project.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council previously authorized the City Manager to negotiate a
professional services agreement with All Fuels, Inc., for preliminary
engineering and design for the MSC CNG station.
The final design and engineering will consist of mechanical drawings for conventional fuel system/fueling island
modifications; mechanical drawings for shop up -grade; electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, civil drawings
and calculations for CNG Fueling system; and modification to existing mechanical and electrical drawings.
The MSC CNG station will provide fuel for all CNG transit buses, all heavy-duty CNG trucks and all CNG light- to
medium -duty cars and trucks. It is estimated that the City of Lodi will realize significant fuel savings for these
vehicles. Current estimates are for a fuel savings of 50%. The fueling island will see upgrades for all fuels as
well. A new card reader will reduce labor time that is currently used to manually input all fuel transactions. New
electronic fueling dispensers will be installed for gasoline and diesel as well.
