RECOMMENDED ACTION: That Council, by motion action, direct the City Clerk to post for the following expiring
terms/vacancies on the Lodi Arts Commission, East Side Improvement Committee,
Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, Library Board, Planning Commission, and the
San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: There are several terms expiring on the Lodi Arts Commission, East Side
Improvement Committee, Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, Library
Board, Planning Commission, and the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air
Pollution Control District. In addition, our office received the attached letters
of resignation effective August 30, 2001 from five members of the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission. Therefore,
it is recommended that the City Council direct the City Clerk to post for the expiring terms/vacancies shown below.
State statute requires that the City Clerk post for vacancies to allow citizens interested in serving to submit an
application. The City Council is requested to direct the City Clerk to make the necessary postings.

Dear Members of the Lodi City Council:
In the fall of 2001 1 will be attending Dominican University in San Rafael. Because of
this, I must resign from my position on the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission effective
August 30th. These past four years as a member of this commission have been very
inspiring and rewarding. As a member of this commission and of this community, I have
developed many skills that will follow me throughout the course of my entire life. Thank you

Youth Commission
The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission has been
formed to affect positive growth in young adults through
a variety of activities that will generate interest and
participation within the community.
The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission meets
the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m., at the
Cottage Room at Hutchins Street Square. The
Commission consists of 6 adult advisors, 1 City Council
representative, and 9 student members.
The Commission currently has 1 adult vacancy and
7 student vacancies for the following terms:
1 adult advisory vacancy term to expire 8/30/01
4 student vacancies term to expire 8/30/01
3 student vacancies term to expire 8/30/02
Application Deadline: May 31, 2001

public library; to set policy and budget guidelines; to
review and act on proposals; and to advocate
programs, funding and support of government officials
to recognize and meet the needs of the community.
The Library Board meets the 3'd Monday of each
month at 5:30 p.m., at the Lodi Public Library, and
consists of 5 members, each serving 3 -year terms.

The Planning Commission was developed to review
changes to the City's General Plan and Zoning
regulations to ensure the development in Lodi is of the
highest quality, and to provide recommendations to
Council on such matters dealing with community
development.
The Planning Commission meets the 2"d & 4t`
Wednesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m., at the
Carnegie Forum, and consists of 7 members, each
serving 4 -year terms.
Applications are now being accepted to fill two (2)
upcoming vacancies on the Planning Commission for
the following term:
July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2005
