HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2023-209RESOLUTION NO. 2023-209 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR THE 2023 PLAYGROUND REPLACEMENT PROJECT TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIVE BIDDER AND EXECUTE CHANGE ORDERS; AND FURTHER APPROPRIATING FUNDS WHEREAS, this project includes the replacement of outdated and aging playground structures in five city parks to meet playground equipment safety requirements; and WHEREAS, the parks with corresponding existing playground installation dates include: English Oaks (1997), Hale Park (2006), Katzakian Park (2001), Legion Park (1997-1998), and Peterson Park (1997); and WHEREAS, this project will consist of replacing antiquated playground equipment (swings, footings, etc.) with new ADA -accessible playgrounds; installing accessible playground access ramps, where required; replacing existing playground surfacing material with like material of either rubberized, poured -in-place playground surfacing material or engineered wood fiber; and replacing damaged, raised, cracked and/or ADA non-compliant concrete sidewalk; and WHEREAS, staff recommends authorizing the City Manager to award a contract for the 2023 Playground Replacement Project to the lowest responsive bidder in an amount not to exceed $1,560,000 and execute change orders in an amount not to exceed $175,000; and WHEREAS, staff further recommends appropriating funds in the amount of $105,000 to the Hale Park Tot Lot Playground Equipment Project PKCP-22014 (43299000.77020). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the City Manager to award a contract for the 2023 Playground Replacement Project to the lowest responsive bidder in an amount not to exceed $1,560,000 and execute change orders in an amount not to exceed $175,000; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby appropriate funds in the amount of $105,000 as set forth above; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, pursuant to Section 6.3q of the City Council Protocol Manual (adopted 11/6/19, Resolution No. 2019-223), the City Attorney is hereby authorized to make minor revisions to the above -referenced document(s) that do not alter the compensation or term, and to make clerical corrections as necessary.
