HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2023-147RESOLUTION NO. 2023-147 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH TREE LODI, A CALIFORNIA NON-PROFIT CORPORATION, TO IMPLEMENT A RESIDENTIAL SHADE TREE PROGRAM; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING UNSPENT FUNDS TO CARRY FORWARD TO FISCAL YEAR 2024/25 WHEREAS, on June 2, 2021, the Lodi City Council adopted Resolution No. 2021-150 approving an agreement between the City and Tree Lodi to implement a two-year Residential Shade Tree Pilot Program (Pilot Program) for Lodi Electric Utility (LEU) customers; and WHEREAS, Tree Lodi successfully delivered and planted approximately 500 shade trees for Lodi residents in each year of the Pilot Program on schedule and on budget; and WHEREAS, Tree Lodi is a long-standing partner to the City of Lodi, and is comprised of volunteers dedicated to building and sustaining healthy communities through planting trees and tree education; and WHEREAS, in addition to the placement of a variety of tree species, Tree Lodi volunteers provide on-site tree education and consultation, hold community tree workshops, and perform all other functions normally associated with the Shade Tree Program, including purchasing inventory and maintaining positive relationships with the community; and WHEREAS, the Shade Tree Program is fully funded by LEU with Public Benefits funding restricted for certain uses, such as energy efficiency, and will help achieve energy efficiency goals and provide Lodi residents with an alternative to reduce the surrounding air temperature and carbon dioxide content from the air. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Tree Lodi, a California non-profit corporation, to implement a two-year Residential Shade Tree Program in an amount not exceed $143,000 through June 30, 2025; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize any unspent fund to carry forward to Fiscal Year 2024/25 for this Program; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, pursuant to Section 6.3q of the City Council Protocol Manual (adopted 11/6/19, Resolution No. 2019-223), the Interim City Attorney is hereby authorized to make minor revisions to the above -referenced document(s) that do not alter the compensation or term, and to make clerical corrections as necessary.
