RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation of proclamation proclaiming the week of May 21 - 27, 2023,
as "National Public Works Week" in Lodi.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Public Works Week is a national event to educate the public on how
important the contribution of Public Works is to their daily lives. This
year's theme i "Connecting the World Through Public Works" and
recognizes the vital contribution public works profeslionals make every day to their communities. Public
Works plays a key role in the planning, building, and maintaining infrastructure in our community that will
allow future generations to enjoy a higher quality of life.
National Public Works Week calls attention to the importance of Public Works in community life and seeks to
recognize the heroes of our society — the professionals who serve the public good every day with quiet
dedication. These often -unsung heroes are the men and women in Public Works who plan, design, build, and
maintain our water, wastewater, drainage, and street systems, City buildings; and fleet, transit, and solid waste
services. These folks play a role in the quality of life in our community, and help move life forward.
A representative of the Public Works Department will be present to accept the proclamation.
