BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Funds to purchase a twelve -yard dump truck for the Street Division of the Public Works Department had been approved and budgeted in the 1999/00 Equipment Replacement Fund. This vehicle will replace existing Unit 04-084, a six-yard dump truck. Unit 04-084 is a fully depreciated, 1985 Ford, Model C7000, with an odometer reading of 93,276 miles. It was purchased for $44,603 in 1985 and has accumulated $37,130 in repair costs. Existing Unit 04-084 has a very sick engine and its dependability is questionable. The Street Division uses this unit on a daily basis for maintenance. We plan to dispose of this truck once we have purchased the new vehicle. The upgrade request is to provide the Street Division with greater hauling capabilities at a reduced labor cost. This size truck is available in alternative fuel CNG engines and staff has written specifications around a CNG product line. Specifications are on file in the Public Works Department. FUNDING: The money for this project will be coming from the Equipment Replacement Fund, CMAQ, and Air District Heavy Duty Funds. A request for appropriation of funds will be made at bid award. Project Estimate: $85,000 Budgeted: 1999/00 fiscal year (Page E-55, 1999/2001 Capital Improvement Budget) Planned Bid Opening Date: April 18, 2001 Oaj Richard C.
