AGENDA TITLE: Adopt Resolution Approving Revisions to the Salary Range for the Position of Executive
Administrative Assistant

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt resolution approving revisions to the salary range for the position of
Executive Administrative Assistant.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In October 2017, as part of the long-term financial outlook and cost saving
measures Council approved a resolution to combine the Secretary to the
City Manager and the Legal Secretary classifications into one classification
of Executive Administrative Assistant.
The salary of the newly created combined classification of Executive Administrative Assistant was set at the
salary of the Secretary to the City Manager. As a result, the City experienced much needed cost savings to the
General Fund with the reduction of one full-time position.
Over the past five years, the position of Executive Administrative Assistant has expanded and the level of
responsibility and decision-making has greatly increased. Additionally, the incumbent performed the job duties
of two classifications and was instrumental to the City Manager, City Attorney and Risk Manager as they
navigated the complexities and every changing regulations pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic and
subsequent emergency declaration.
In accordance with the increased responsibilities and the high level of administrative support provided, the City
Manager and the City Attorney desire to amend the salary range of the Executive Administrative Assistant by
adjusting the salary steps. Staff propose a two-step salary adjustment to the salary range of the Executive
Administrative Assistant, effective, January 9, 2023. This range adjustment will be accomplished by eliminating
the bottom two steps, shifting the remaining steps down, and adding two steps (5% for each step) to the top of
the range. This allows future salary growth for the incumbent and places the range closer to median with our
comparative agencies.
Salary Range (6% wage incr): $69,093.88 $72,548.59 $76,176.02 $79,984.81 $83,984.05
Proposed Salary Range: $76,176.02 $79,984.81 $83,984.05 $88,183.25 $92,592.42
The incumbent is eligible to advance to the next step at their regular anniversary date for a merit increase.

Staff recommends that the Council approve the adjustments to the salary range of the Executive Administrative
Assistant.
FISCAL IMPACT: The annual increase in Calendar Year 2023 is approximately $4,500 and $5,000
annually thereafter.
FUNDING AVAILABLE: Funding available with the City Manager's budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL APPROVING
SALARY RANGE ADJUSTMENT FOR THE POSITION OF
EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve
a two-step salary range adjustment for the Executive Administrative Assistant classification; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the salary range shall be adjusted by dropping the
bottom two steps, shifting the three remaining steps down, and adding two new steps (5% each
step); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the new salary range for the Executive Administrative
Assistant is hereby approved and shall be as follows:
