BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Council previously adopted Resolution 2021-12 that set the benefits and contribution rates for which Council members are eligible. City staff have negotiated new contracts with the majority of City staff that includes an increase to the City's contribution towards medical premiums. Staff recommend that the City increase the City's capped contribution towards medical for Council members to the same rates as offered to City employees. Attached is a copy of Resolution 2021-12. FISCAL IMPACT: It is estimated that the benefit modifications will cost the City a maximum of $12,660 per year should all five Council members elect City health coverage at the family tier. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Necessary funding will be included in each fiscal year budget.
