AGENDA TITLE: Presentation to Receive Information Regarding City Street Sweeping; and On -Street Parking Options
MEETING DATE: November 16, 2022
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Provide a presentation regarding the City of Lodi's street sweeping
program including on -street parking options during sweeper day.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Public Works has been tasked with providing a description of the sweeper
program and finding options that may assist with the on -street parking
concerns during the scheduled sweeper day. The City's sweeper
program is an essential function in reducing debris from streets and storm systems as well as enhancing the
appearance of the City's roads and neighborhoods.
The City has 404 curb miles and one sweeper operator which sweeps each of the 17 sweeper zones monthly,
and the Downtown zone weekly. The City also contracts a sweeping service that covers up to 50 curb miles of
the newer additions to Lodi. The sweeper averages 9,000 miles a year with an average of 2,000 cubic yards of
debris removed annually.
The City currently has parking restrictions in place for the 2nd Wednesday sweeper zone along Locust St. from
Washington St. to Cherokee Ln. which has been in place since 2008. This presentation will provide
information on the existing restrictions in place and options for future pilot parking restrictions.
