HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - February 21, 2001 E-23AGENDA TITLE: Authorize Use of Dial -a -Ride from Delta College to Lodi, Monday through Friday
Evenings
MEETING DATE: February 21, 2001
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council authorize use of Dial -a -Ride from Delta College to
Lodi, Monday through Friday evenings.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) has
determined that there is an Unmet Transit Need from Lodi to
Stockton, Monday through Friday evenings. The SJCOG has
determined, too, that this need is reasonable to meet and has been
working with the San Joaquin Regional Transit District (SJRTD) to provide this service on a 24-hour
basis. However, this service has not yet been implemented. The service would entail a Dial -A -Ride
driver picking up passengers from the SJRTD bus stop at Delta College once per evening and dropping
off passengers at their homes in Lodi. Currently, Lodi residents can get to Stockton via SJRTD Routes
20 and 21, but the service to Lodi ends at 7:12 p.m. Also, passengers from Delta arriving in Lodi about
10:15 p.m. would not be able to use the Grapel-ine to go home. For that reason, door-to-door service is
recommended. Fares would be $2.50 each way for the General Public and $1.00 for
Seniors/Disabled/Medicare. The cost of the service would be $17.20 per hour. It is expected that the
service will operate no more than six months, at a cost no greater than $3,400.00.
FUNDING: FTA $1,700.00
TDA $1,70 0
