AGENDA TITLE: Adopt Resolution Accepting Project Under Contract for Grape Bowl Turf
Replacement Project
MEETING DATE: August 3, 2022
PREPARED BY: Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION Adopt resolution accepting project under contract for Grape Bowl Turf
Replacement project.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The previous turf at the Grape Bowl was installed in April of 2010.
Routine analysis of the existing field playability and safety requirements of
the surface showed the turf had met its life span of 10-12 years.
Field Turf USA, Inc. of Montreal, Quebec was selected through a CMAS contract in the amount of
$759,686.38. The final amount of the contract is $764,024.78 as a time and material change order was added
to address raising existing utility concreate aprons on the south side -line areas.
The project included removal and replacement of over 90,000 square feet of synthetic turf and included inlaid
soccer and football game line markings, silica sand and true blend coated cork infill mixture. Work also
included drain rock and quarry replacement and grading, along with new field grooming equipment, painting of
the existing football goals and replacement of Brock drainage panels. Six (6) G -Max tests of the field shall take
place on future alternating years and reports will be provided to the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services
Department (PRCS).
Work started on May 9, 2022 and was completed on July 12, 2022, 11 days ahead of schedule. Overall the
project was successful in replacing the all-weather synthetic turf and addressing the depressed field locations.
Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the PRCS Director will file a Notice of
Completion with the County Recorder's Office. The notice serves to notify Field Turf USA, Inc. that the project
is complete and if applicable, begins their 30 -day period to file a stop notice requiring the City to withhold
payment.
