2000
MEETING DATE: February 21, 2001
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council accept the improvements under the Lane Line
Painting, Various City Streets, 2000 contract.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The project was awarded to Safety Striping Service, Inc., of Visalia,
on September 20, 2000, in the amount of $52,629.31. The contract
has been completed in substantial conformance with the specifications
approved by the City Council.
The contract completion date was December 19, 2000. The final contract price was $51,671.26. The
difference between the original contract price and the final contract price resulted from a reduction of the
original linear footage to be painted. The City is assuming responsibility for additional cleanup which would
normally have been completed by the contractor. The agreed-upon price of $1,000.00 will be deducted
from the final contract payment as compensation for City cleanup.
Following acceptance by the City Council, the City Engineer will file a Notice of Completion with the
County Recorder's office.
