HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - February 21, 2001 E-08AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a Resolution Awarding the Contract for Lower Sacramento Road Utilities, Kettleman Lane to Turner Road, to Crutchfield Construction ($165,700); and Appropriate Funds for the Project MEETING DATE: February 21, 2001 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the contract for the above project to Crutchfield Construction, of Stockton, in the amount of $165,703.00 and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project will add water mains along the west side of Lower Sacramento Road (per the City's water master plan) and replace two sections of wastewater pipe that have developed sags in their flowlines. In addition, service laterals are being constructed to the existing homes on the east side of Lower Sacramento Road, and connection points are being constructed to facilitate extending future services to homes on the west side of Lower Sacramento Road. This underground work will be done now to avoid future trench cuts in Lower Sacramento Road after completion of the street improvement project. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on November 15, 2000. Dixon Fly -- City Manadgr Caward 02108/01 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-38 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR LOWER SACRAMENTO ROAD UTILITIES, KETTLEMAN LANE TO TURNER ROAD, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO COVER THE PROJECT ------------------------------------------------------------------- WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on February 7, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. for Lower Sacramento Road Utilities, Kettleman Lane to Turner Road, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on November 15, 2000; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: Bidder Location Bids Engineer's Estimate $177,985.00 Crutchfield Construction Stockton $ 165,703.00 SEMCO Modesto $ 199,301.75 Dell Engineering Stockton $ 206,207.00 Tidelands Construction Brentwood $ 268,155.00 WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for Lower Sacramento Road Utilities, Kettleman Lane to Turner Road be made to the low bidder, Crutchfield Construction, of Stockton, CA.
