SHIRTSLEEVE SESSION

An Informal Informational Meeting ("Shirtsleeve" Session) of the Lodi City Council was held
Tuesday, August 2, 2022, commencing at 7:01 a.m.
Present: Council Member Khan, Council Member Nakanishi, Mayor Pro Tempore Hothi, and
Mayor Chandler
Absent: Council Member Kuehne
Also Present: City Manager Schwabauer, City Attorney Magdich, and City Clerk Nashed
Councilmember Kuehne joined the meeting at 7:07 a.m.
Business Development Manager Astrida Trupovnieks introduced Bill Nantt of Tree Lodi. Mr. Nantt
introduced members of the Tree Lodi Program and provided a PowerPoint presentation the Lodi
Shade Tree Pilot Program. Specific topics of discussion included the proposal, goals, research
team, budget, promotion, implementation, process, popularity, suspension of program, lessons
learned, and mission accomplished.
None.
No action was taken by the City Council. The meeting was adjourned at 7:19 a.m.

Lessons Learned
Patience required. Shortages of everything were a factor
Trees should be ordered during Fall and Winter for best availability
Inventory tracking process needs improvement
Utility inserts need to be spread out over months
Tree species offered should be reduced to around 30 from 50
Capturing true costs needs addressing
Program would be better served with more volunteers
