AGENDA TITLE: Adopt Resolution Authorizing Street Name Change From Azalea Lane to Violet
Street
MEETING DATE: November 17, 2021
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION Adopt resolution authorizing street name change from Azalea Lane
to Violet Street.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Staff recently noticed that "Azalea Lane" located in the Villa Fiore
subdivision has a similar name as "Azalea Street" located in the
nearby Gateway North subdivision. The two street names are
very similar and the streets are located within 1000 feet of each other (Exhibit A).
Similar street names can have detrimental effects to the first responders during emergency situations.
The homes located on "Azalea Street" have been occupied by residents and changing their street
name would be difficult. Since the new houses under construction on "Azalea Lane" are not yet
occupied, changing "Azalea Lane" to another name will not affect any existing residents.
The Developer representing the Villa Fiore subdivision, Elliot Homes, concurs with the proposed name
change and supports changing the street name to "Violet Street." The Fire Department and Police
Department also support the proposed name change. Staff will facilitate the street name change using
City forces.
Staff recommends authorizing street name change from Azalea Lane to Violet Street.
