Adjournment LODI UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BUILDING FOR THE 21ST CENTURY A PROGRAM TO IMPROVE SCHOOL FACILITIES TO SUPPORT STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT February 1, 2001 What are the elements of this school facilitie.s improvement program? ✓ New schools to ease overcrowding and house new students 1 New additions to provide more classrooms and greater equity between schools ✓ Renovations to make school buildings last longer and meet student needs better ✓ Safety Measures to improve safety and security at schools What is the purpose of the program? To build and improve school facilities in Lodi Unified so that they support student teaming and achievement. Inadequate facilities hinder teachers and students in their efforts to improve. What is the objective of the program? To address needs districtwide - all schools and communities benefit. Building facilities to enable all schools to move off of the Concept 6 calendar is also an objective. What are the estimated costs to address the needs? ✓ New Schools & Additions $154 million ✓. Renovations and Safety Measures $ 46 million What is the finance plan to address the need? 1 New Schools and Additions o Local bond funds o State match grant funds and local development fees 1 Renovations and Safety Measures o Local bond funds o State match grants, State and local deferred maintenance funds How much is the proposed local bond measure? $101 million $53 million $8 million $38 million ✓ $109.36 million. This amount corresponds to a maximum tax of $60 per year for a property valued at $100;000. This amount includes deferred maintenance. The amount presented at the Board of Education meeting on December 18, 2000, was $32.14 million, which did not include deferred maintenance.
