Section 17.36.130 of the Lodi Municipal Code related to the City's Accessory

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Set public hearing to consider an Ordinance amending Section
17.36.130 of the Lodi Municipal Code Amendments related to
the City's Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) and Junior Accessory
Dwelling Unit (JADU)Regulations.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Community Development Department has prepared an
Ordinance that would amend Section 17.36.130 of the Lodi
Municipal Code related to ADUs and JADUs.
In recent years, the Legislature has passed, and the Governor has signed into law, a number of bills
to decrease barriers to housing development and opportunities in the State. The City is now further
restricted in what it may require when reviewing and approving ADUs and JADUs, two types of
dwelling units that exist on a property that already has at least one dwelling unit. The proposed
ordinance would amend City regulations to be consistent with current requirements under State law.
The Planning Commission considered amendments to Section 17.36.130 of the Lodi Municipal Code
related to ADUs and JADUs on October 20, 2021 and recommended the City Council approve the
proposed Municipal Code amendments.
The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the proposed ordinance and, if determined
appropriate, introduce and waive first reading of the ordinance, thereby amending the City's ADU and
JADU regulations consistent with State law.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the hour of

conduct a public hearing at the Carnegie Forum, 305 West Pine Street, Lodi, to consider
the following item:

Information regarding this item may be obtained in the Community Development
