AGENDA TITLE: Approve Plans and Specifications and Authorize Advertisement for Bids for
Fire Station No. 4, 180 North Lower Sacramento Road

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications for the above
project and authorize advertising for bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City is in need of a fire station to provide service to the west side of
the city. The City's fourth fire station will be located at
180 North Lower Sacramento Road, sharing the site with Water Well 21.
The project includes the construction of a 7,200 -square -foot fire station, a well enclosure, an emergency
electrical generator to serve the well and the fire station, and associated site work. The fire station
includes a central apparatus room with an adjoining exercise/utility/equipment wing to the north and a
lobby/office/residential wing to the south. The final building design is the result of several meetings with,
and major input from, the Lodi Fire Department's line personnel.
The Council authorized the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Design and Construction
Services Agreement with George Miers & Associates on April 5, 2000.
The plans and specifications are on file in the Public Works Department.
FUNDING: The money for this project will be coming from Fire Impact Fee and Water Impact Fee
funds. A request for appropriation of funds will be made at contract award.
