RECOMMENDED ACTION Receive information on removal of citizen installed "bars" on
downtown benches.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City of Lodi was recently made aware of "bars" that were
installed on the mid -point of several benches in the downtown area.
The "bars," which act as a divider or armrest, were installed by a
private party without City approval or knowledge. While the "bars" are well made, the design and
installation has not been approved by the City or tested for safety. For these reasons, Staff removed the
unauthorized "bars." The involved parties have reimbursed the city's costs.
