HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2021-150RESOLUTION NO. 2021-150 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONTRACT WITH TREE LODI TO IMPLEMENT A TWO-YEAR PILOT RESIDENTIAL SHADE TREE PROGRAM TO ACHIEVE STATE ENERGY EFFICIENCY GOALS; AND AUTHORIZING THE NECESSARY APPROPRIATIONS AND EXPENDITURE FOR TREES, MATERIALS, SUPPLIES, AND OTHER PROGRAMMING COSTS TO BE CARRIED FORWARD INTO FISCAL YEAR 2021-22 WHEREAS, the implementation of a pilot residential shade tree program was planned as a key customer program in the FY 21 Electric Utility public benefits budget; and WHEREAS, Tree Lodi, a California non-profit corporation, is a long-standing partner to the City of Lodi, dedicated to building and sustaining healthy communities through planting trees and tree education; and WHEREAS, other municipal utilities in the region have partnered with environmental nonprofits ensuring these organizations have access to the tools and support needed to improve their communities; and WHEREAS, Tree Lodi has been carefully planning to implement the pilot residential shade tree program to include on-site tree education and consultation, purchasing relationships with tree nurseries, an electronic application process, program materials, and a new website to support a robust environmentally -sustaining service to Lodi homeowners. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the City Manager to contract with Tree Lodi, a California non-profit corporation, to implement a two- year pilot residential shade tree program to achieve State energy efficiency goals; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the necessary appropriation and expenditure in the amount of $71,500 for trees, materials, supplies, and other programming costs, including administrative oversight, to be carried forward into Fiscal Year 2021-22. Funding account codes are: 50465001.72450 ($16,500) for program administration, and 50465100.72920 ($55,000) for all other shade tree program costs; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, pursuant to Section 6.3q of the City Council Protocol Manual (adopted 11/6/19, Resolution No. 2019-223), the City Attorney is hereby authorized to make minor revisions to the above -referenced document(s) that do not alter the compensation or term, and to make clerical corrections as necessary.
