RECOMMENDED ACTION. Mayor Nakanishi will present a proclamation in honor of the
celebration of Vaisakhi in the City of Lodi.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The ancient Punjabi harvest festival of Vaisakhi, honoring farmers,
and laborers, is commemorated by billions of people in the Indian
subcontinent, and by the hundreds of thousands of Californians that
trace their roots to that region. Vaisakhi also marks Sikh faith's largest religious holiday, drawing from the
community's roots in the fertile farmlands of Punjab.
