HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - November 15, 2000 E-09CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a Resolution Awarding the Contract for the White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility Adjustable Frequency Drive Replacements to Rexel-Norcal Valley Electrical Supplies ($67,330) and Authorizing Use of Public Benefit Funds (approx. $17,500) MEETING DATE: November 15, 2000 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the contract for the above project to Rexel-NorCal Valley Electrical Supplies, of Stockton, in the amount of $67,332, and authorize use of Public Benefit funds for 25% of the project cost. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of replacing four 10 -year-old adjustable frequency drives (AFD's), which control the speeds of the domestic and industrial waste pumps at the White Slough Treatment Facility. The three domestic pump drives are critical to plant operations and in need of replacement along with one industrial waste pump drive scheduled for replacement this budget cycle. There are a total of twelve drives, which have been planned for replacement in the coming years. A recommendation for replacement of the remaining eight drives has been included in future Capital Improvement Budgets. Due to energy -efficiency improvements, these drives qualify for a 25% rebate under the Electric Utility Department's Public Benefits Program. Specifications for this project were approved on September 20, 2000. This is the only bid the City received. Dixon Flynn -- City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 2000-194 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE WHITE SLOUGH WATER POLLUTION CONTROL FACILITY ADJUSTABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE REPLACEMENTS, AND AUTHORIZE USE OF PUBLIC BENEFIT FUNDS FOR TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT (25%) OF THE PROJECT COST WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on October 5, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. for the White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility Adjustable Frequency Drive Replacements, described in the specifications therefore approved by the City Council on September 20, 2000; and WHEREAS, only one bid was received from Rexel-NorCal Valley Electrical Supplies for this project, in the amount of $67,332.00; and WHEREAS, staff recommends award of the White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility Adjustable Frequency Drive Replacements be made to the sole bidder, Rexel- NorCal Valley Electrical Supplies, of Stockton, California; and WHEREAS, due to these energy -efficiency improvements, these drives qualify for a 25% rebate under the Electric Utility Department's Public Benefits Program, so staff further recommends authorizing the use of Public Benefit funds for 25% of the project cost. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the bid for the White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility Adjustable Frequency Drive Replacements be and the same is hereby awarded to Rexel-NorCal Valley Electrical Supplies, of Stockton, California, the sole bidder, in the amount of $67,332.00 and further authorizing the use of Public Benefit funds for 25% of the project cost or $17,500.00.
