AGENDA TITLE: Adopt Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Ratify Payment of
Emergency Repairs for Engine 2031
MEETING DATE:
PREPARED BY:
February 3, 2021
Interim Fire Chief
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to
Ratify Payment of Emergency Repairs for Engine
2031.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In October the pump and foam system for Engine
2031 went out. After some discussion with Fleet, it was decided to take E-2031 to Golden
State as the Husky foam system is proprietary to Pierce. Golden State is the only
distributer of Pierce fire engines in Northern California and our fleet department is unable
to address the issue with the foam system. Fleet agreed it would be best to have Golden
State handle the pump repair while they had the rig there for the foam system to get it
back in service quicker due to the city's fleet shop being short staffed.
The pump on the rig was the first thing to be repaired for a cost of $20,497 and an
invoice has already been submitted to Accounting for payment. Golden State was
unable to get the foam system functioning properly and had to work with the parts
manufacturer in Wisconsin which resulted in the vendor recommending replacement of
the pump system. We received a work estimate from Golden State Emergency Vehicle
Service for this work in the amount of $5,400 and will do a separate purchase order
since that work has not yet been completed.
Staff recommends authorizing the City Manager to ratify the payment of the invoice for
the emergency repairs to Engine 2031 in the amount of $20,497.
FISCAL IMPACT: Expenditures are included in the FY 2021 budget
