HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2020-265RESOLUTION NO. 2020-265 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A THREE-YEAR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH EVERGREEN JOB AND SAFETY, INCORPORATED, OF ROSEVILLE, FOR LODI ELECTRIC UTILITY SAFETY TRAINING SERVICES .--------------------------------------------------------------------- WHERAS, training employees to work safely around electrical hazards is a critical requirement for maintaining worker safety; and WHEREAS, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards require affected workplaces to offer comprehensive safety training on best work practices when working around electrical hazards; and WHEREAS, OSHA states that only qualified workers can perform maintenance and repairs of electrical equipment and these qualified workers must be fully trained to identify risks and hazards and have procedures in place to safely handle situations during the normal course of their work day and in emergency situations; and WHEREAS, Evergreen Job and Safety, Incorporated (Evergreen) continues to provide this and other associated training to Lodi Electric Utility (LEU) staff; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Lodi Municipal Code, Section 3.20.075, safety consultants are exempt from bidding requirements and such contracts shall be awarded on the basis of professional qualifications and experience, quality of service, past performance and negotiated prices; and WHEREAS, Evergreen has been providing safety training services to LEU since 2016, as well as to more than 20 other utilities, and continues to be a valuable safety resource for LEU. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby authorize the City Manager to execute a three-year Professional Services Agreement with Evergreen Job and Safety, Incorporated, of Roseville, California, for Lodi Electric Utility safety training services, in an amount not to exceed $80,000; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, pursuant to Section 6.3q of the City Council Protocol Manual (Res. No. 2019-223), the City Attorney is hereby authorized to make minor revisions to the above -referenced document(s) that do not alter the compensation or term, and to make clerical corrections as necessary.
