HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - December 6, 2000 E-07AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a Resolution Awarding the Contract for Katzakian Park Improvements, 2735 West Turner Road
($553,590); and Appropriate $600,000 for the Project
MEETING DATE: December 6, 2000
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the contract for the above project to
Goodland Landscape Construction, Inc., of Livermore, in the amount of $553,590.00; and
appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project will grade and contour, install irrigation and landscaping, install
underground utilities, construct a parking lot and a basketball court, and provide park
furniture, a shade structure and playground equipment for Katzakian Park. Well site
improvements in this park will be done under separate contracts.
The bid included options for fence types along the property line adjacent to Wine & Roses and the Wine & Roses parcel
owned by Del Smith. Staff has not completed discussions with Mr. Smith over cost sharing on a fence and recommends that
the initial award include sufficient funds for a chain link fence and mow strip. We can issue a change order to change the
fence, if necessary.
The project also allows for a small space at the southeast corner, adjacent to the "Discover Lodi" visitors center, that was
planned to be landscaped with shrubs to screen various utility boxes and pedestals. This space may be slightly enlarged to
allow for planting grapevines for demonstration purposes. Discussions with the Wine Grape Commission are ongoing and
will be brought back to the Council.
Plans and specifications for this project were approved on August 16, 2000. The City received the following five bids for
