Lodi Lions Club completed landscaping work in 1984; and ine Lodi Rotãry Club completed the arbor and
welcome sign in 1985. All work and material were donated by the respective clubs. The sign became an
entrance feature and was recently reconditioned and repainted in 2017, by City staff.
The Lodi Kiwanis Club, Lodi Lions Club, and Lodi Rotary Club are requesting to install their club
emblems on the Welcome to City of Lodi sign for the recognition of their work on the Hutchins Median
Project. While the Kiwanis Club did not participate in the Hutchins Median Project, the Lions Club and
Rotary Club support the placement of the Kiwanis sign because of their contributions in other locations in
the City.
The proposed emblems graphics are shown in Exhibit B. The proposed emblems are approximately 18
inches in diameter, made out of metal, and will be installed by club volunteers with a City-issued
encroachment permit. The signs and the installation methods will be reviewed and approved by Public
Works Department with the encroachment permit application.
ln the past the City has allowed service club emblems to be installed on City signs. The service club
emblems will be maintained by the respective clubs.
Statf recommends authorizing installation of various service club signs on "Welcome to City of Lodi" sign,
located on Hutchins Street at Harney Lane.
FISCAL IMPACT: The project will have a minimal impact to the maintenance costs associated
with the Welcome to City of Lodi sign.
FUNDING AVAILABLE: Not applicable.
