Adopt resolution authorizing City Manager to execute Professional Service Agreement with Cummins, lnc., of West Sacramento, for on- site repairs to Cummins engines in City vehicles, in the amount of $30,000. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Public Works Department's Fleet Division maintains over 244 City vehicles, including City buses, Fire engines, and large equipment vehicles. Approximately 30 of these City vehicles are powered by a Cummins engine. Cummins Diesel and natural gas engines require certified Cummins mechanics to perform maintenance and repairs. Cummins, lnc., of West Sacramento, has provided on-site service (including warranty work) by fully- trained, qualified technicians for the City's Fleet Division for numerous years. The Professional Services Agreement, if approved, would provide on-site service for a term of one year, in an amount not to exceed $30,000. Staff recommends authorizing City Manager to execute Professional Service Agreement with Cummins, lnc., of West Sacramento, for on-site repairs to Cummins engines in City vehicles, in the amount of $30,000. FISCAL IMPACT On-site repairs by highly qualified technician's limits the amount of time a vehicle is out of service and saves the cost of towing vehicles to West Sacramento, allowing City Departments to effectively utilize City vehicles. Staff estimates approximately 50 percent of the contract cost will impact the General Fund based on the portion of General Fund vehicles equipped with Cummins engines. Funding is budgeted in the operating accounts associated with the d nt requiring service.
