Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Accept improvements under contract for Lodi Fire Station No. 1 Kitchen
Remodel Project.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project was awarded to Sauren Construction and Electric, of Elk
Grove, on June 19,2019, in the amount of $63,727. The contract has
been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and
specifications approved by City Council on April 17,2019.
This project includes resurfacing the kitchen cabinets, installing a new counter top, installing a new sink and
plumbing fixtures, removing existing floor tiles, polishing the existing concrete floor in the kitchen and dining
areas; and other miscellaneous and related work as shown on the plans and specifications for the project.
Photos of the completed work are shown in Exhibit A.
The original contract completion date was September 23,2019, and the actual contract completion date
was October 7,2019. The final cost of the project was $80,028. The difference between the original
contract amount and final contract amount is due to three change orders. Change Order No.1 (912,498.14)
and Change Order No. 2 (1,178.55) were to address additional accessibility issues required by the Building
Department. Change Order No. 3 ($2,624.91) was for additional water connections for the icemaker and
refrigerators.
Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the City Engineer will file a Notice of
Completion with the County Recorder's office. The notice serves to notify vendors and subcontractors that
the project is complete and begins their 30-day period to file a stop notice requiring the City to withhold
payments from the prime contractor in the event of a payment dispute.
FISCAL IMPAGT: The project will reduce maintenance cost associated with the older kitchen
facilities.
FUNDING AVAILABLE: This project was funded by General Fund Capital
