Adopt Resolution Amending Traffic Resolution No. 97-148, by Approving a Multi-
Way Stop Control at Washington Street and Oak Street
November 6,2019
Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION Adopt resolution amending Traffic Resolution No. 97-148, by
approving a multi-way stop control at Washington Street and Oak
Street.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: ln the past months, Public Works staff has conducted traffic studies
to examine speed, volumes, and pedestrians in the location of
Walnut Street and Oak Street. The studies were performed at the
request of the Loel Senior Center, which is located on the southwest side of the intersection.
Currently, there is a two-way stop on Oak Street, at the intersection of Washington Street and Oak
Street. While the traffic study indicates the intersection does not meet the guidelines for a four way stop,
considering the combination of concentrated senior pedestrian activity generated by the Loel Senior
Center and the two bus stop shelters, staff recommends installing stop controls on Washington Street at
Oak Street, as shown in Exhibit A.
Staff recommends amending Traffic Resolution No. 97-148, by approving a multi-way stop control at
Washington Street and Oak Street.
FISCAL IMPAGT: Not applicable.
FUNDING AVAILABLE: Not applicable.
